New Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande takes charge
General Manoj Pande is the 29th chief of the Indian Army staff. GEN. Pande takes over the baton from outgoing chief Naravane. General Naravane retired after a service of 4 decades.
Outgoing Army chief GEN Naravane called on President Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Defence Minister also met with him. Prior to his relinquishing his duties, he received a guard of honor at the south block. GEN also laid a wreath at the national war memory in the national capital. Gen Naravane helmed the army during the almost 2year long India-China standoff at the LAC
The new army chief Manoj Pand, who comes from CORPS of engineering has his task cut out, From resolving border rows to threaterisation to the indigenization of Army hardware
General Pande takes over as chief at a time when the LAC standoff in the eastern Ladakhis set to enter its third year. Gen Pande was commissioned to the CORPS of engineers in December 1986.
